The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.
She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow publicly, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.
“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official told the media outlet.
Police that entered the inn found two firearms and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, according to reports.
