Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
