Viewers who are craving a horror-slasher film that offers guilty pleasure while eliciting cringes, chances are Bone Lake has caught your interest. This new chilling feature from filmmaker Mercedes Bryce Morgan arrived at cinemas on October 3rd with an absurd premise and a provocative name to match.

A Combination of Levity and Darkness

Given the title like Bone Lake and an initial moments featuring characters running completely nude through the wilderness—only to be targeted with a crossbow in sensitive areas—you'd be right there's a lot of levity all through the film. Even, the film's ending, which depict the central pair battered and bruised yet laughing uncontrollably side by side, carry a tone of macabre comedy.

You would need to seek out a cause to chuckle over, as well, if you went through what the character Diego and the character Sage face in Bone Lake. For what purpose? Because Cin and Will are truly brother and sister. Following their incestuous affair was found out by their parents and they were pulled away against their will, they decided to take revenge on the world (including their parents). Since the people turned against them only for their choice of love, then they'll fight back at the everyone. Cin and Will's objective is to show a reflection to all the duos they ultimately end up killing, in an effort to demonstrate that their affection is no less real (or illegitimate) as the love of these different pairs they try to split.

Unexpected Bonding

Yet, what Will and Cin fail to consider is that Sage and Diego, regardless of their lack of communication with one another, do care for and cherish each other. It required having a murderous couple try to end their relationship and take their lives to realize it. While it appears serious, it isn't played that way. Bone Lake's tone is leaning toward comedy than true terror.

The film finishes with Diego and Sage teaming up to get away from Cin and Will's murderous intentions. What's interesting is that while, at the beginning of the film, you perceive a deep abyss in the relationship between Diego and Sage in comparison to Will and Cin, by the end, Bone Lake flips it on its head. Cin and Will separate to chase Sage and Diego, but Diego and Sage are talking more effectively now. They collaborate to slay the character Will with a chainsaw. They next attack the character Cin, who meets a bloody fate at the depths of Bone Lake's pond—but only after the character Diego retrieves the engagement band destined for Sage that Will had stolen and presented to the character Cin.

Aftermath

Following the events of their pair of slayings, smeared with bodily fluids, Diego and Sage sit together on the back of a craft. Paradoxically, this is the most intimate they've connected since the outset of the film, given that all their relationship troubles have been revealed for each of them to observe, and all they have remaining are their injured and sore selves. To confirm their new closeness and intimate understanding of one another, Diego reaches over to slip the marriage symbol on the character Sage's digit and, when she rotates to examine it in the sunlight, the two break into laughter.

One can easily to understand the reason: At the time, the character Will proposed to Cin, it was a picturesque, affectionate instant. When the character Diego does the same for Sage, they've only survived a horrific ordeal.
