Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Police said the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose of the attack is unknown and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.

Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises near the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the building managing the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, it was reported.

"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.

The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but fell down a short distance away.

Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
