Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
