Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing chaos and madness with equal glee, all while weaving gripping, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of people through this complex and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our shared bold, daring approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
