"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.

This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
