Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase like this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
